SentoClone, a Swedish life science research company that develops and markets a cancer treatment method, needed a cleanroom and process unit to be constructed in a historically protected building in Stockholm.
To deal with the challenges involved in the job, SentoClone turned to NNE Pharmaplan.

Exciting challenges involved with work on historic building
Based on the activation and utilisation of patients’ immune systems in fighting cancer, SentoClone has developed a treatment method that uses the body’s own lymphocytes. To design and build a cleanroom for research and development in cancer science and cell therapy in an eighteenth century building in Stockholm, SentoClone brought in NNE Pharmaplan.
The building presented a number of challenges. The cleanroom was built on the fourth floor of the building where no visible changes were permitted on the building’s façade and an elevator was not allowed. A large window section had to be removed to transport material. One memorable moment occurred when a crane had to lift a large fluorescence-activated cell sorter (FACS) with only 50mm of free space on either side to manoeuvre it into place! When the FACS was finally in place the crane driver was told what the unit was worth – he then turned quite pale.
The project was turnkey all the way – from conceptual design to gowning procedures and validation. The final result was a state-of-the-art facility in an important Swedish landmark.
