Meet Bo


Growing with the company

Bo Liang, 33, B.Sc. Automation. He joined NNE Pharmaplan China in March 2005 as an IT supporter and works today as Team Leader for six employees in IT Infrastructure, IT Support and Global Helpdesk

“We were only 20 employees when I joined NNE Pharmaplan in 2005. Only two years later the staff has grown to 180 people - an impressive growth that I am proud being part of. Globally NNE Pharmaplan needs qualified people within all kinds of engineering disciplines, and China is a huge market for manpower. It is the strategic goal to establish offshoring activities which is the background for our fast growth in China. For me it has been a unique opportunity to grow and develop with the company both personally and professionally. 

I spent my first three months in NNE Pharmaplan on a training course at the headquarter in Denmark. At that time our local IT set up of servers, network and hardware was simple and very slow. Back in China, I became responsible for setting up a new data centre with modern equipment and servers, high speed network and new applications. Today Global IT Helpdesk in NNE Pharmaplan is operated from China In order to get this centre up and running in record time, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Danish colleagues in an international team. This experience really boosted my learning.  

Concurrently I had to develop from junior employee into being a Team Leader responsible for IT personnel recruitment and management. It has been a great challenge to transform my role from technical specialist to personnel manager. Communication and motivation are key words in building up a well functioning team. In my new leadership role, I received a lot of help and support from other parts of NNE Pharmaplan, particularly from colleagues in Denmark.

My job requires frequent travelling, and apart from Denmark I have visited NNE Pharmaplan offices in Germany, Malaysia and also India and Korea. My team is in close contact with colleagues all over the world, and it is absolutely essential to meet face to face and build up relationships facilitating the day to day operation. I like to meet people from other cultures and feel part of a strong international team. 

Compared to the hierarchy of traditional Chinese companies, NNE Pharmaplan is a flat organization. Our working environment is characterized by openness and informal communication. I can speak freely to my boss who encourages me to work independently and take decisions. He trusts that I am capable of solving problems in a creative manner that is optimal to the client and to NNE Pharmaplan. 

NNE Pharmaplan is becoming increasingly international with new opportunities to develop your career.   

The company gives high priority to employee development and encourages people to further education.  All employees have a personnel development plan which is crucial for a knowledge-intensive organization.   

I have no problem maintaining a good balance between work and family life. We have flexible working hours and attractive conditions for holiday leave which means that I can spend more time with my wife and five year old son.
